Art Inspired by Nature, Adventure and the Courage to Dream
My name is Aagje van den Heuvel. My artistic journey began in Australia, where I first discovered the quiet beauty of Aboriginal Dot Art. Later, India inspired me with its vibrant colours, sacred geometry and intricate mandalas.
Today, my husband Jeroen and I live full-time aboard our sailboat, "My Motu", sailing around the world and following a dream that began years ago. The ocean has become our home and my greatest source of inspiration. Tropical reefs, seashells, waves, marine life, island cultures and star-filled skies all find their way into my paintings.
Through thousands of hand-painted dots, flowing lines and geometric patterns, I create artworks that invite you to slow down, reconnect with nature and feel a sense of peace, joy and wonder.
Alongside my art, I also share our sailing stories on SV My Motu and write books inspired by dreams, creativity and the ocean, including "Your Dream, Your Future. Make It Happen" and my Dutch children's book "Dot en haar zeevriendjes van A tot Z".

Have you ever paused for a moment and truly noticed the quiet beauty of nature? Every leaf, shell, flower, wave, and star carries its own perfect geometry. There is a natural rhythm and harmony all around us, patiently waiting to be discovered. These patterns inspire every piece I create. Through thousands of carefully placed dots, flowing lines, and geometric forms, I transform that harmony into art. I never begin with a fixed design; each artwork grows naturally, one dot at a time, guided by intuition, balance, and the inspiration I find in the world around me. I hope that my paintings invite you to slow down, take a deep breath, and reconnect with yourself. Many people tell me they experience a sense of calm, wonder, and belonging, as if, for a moment, they have come home.

Every place we visit, every ocean we cross, and every unforgettable encounter leaves its mark on my life. While some memories become paintings, others find their way into my books. "Your Dream, Your Future. Make It Happen", available in English, Dutch, and Hindi, encourages readers to believe in their dreams, embrace change, and create a life true to themselves. My first Dutch children's book, "Dot en haar zeevriendjes van A tot Z", introduces young readers to the wonders of marine life through the adventures of Dot and her sea friends.
Whether through art or words, I hope to inspire curiosity, creativity, and the courage to follow your own dreams, because every great adventure begins with a single step, and every painting begins with a single dot.

Inspired by the colors of tropical sunsets, island flowers, and the joyful energy of the Pacific, every dot was placed by hand with patience and intention. A reminder that the most beautiful connections are built one moment and one dot at a time.
